The Internet and the Mauritian
About 10 years ago, the Mauritian people started to experienced the internet. The amount of users at this time was very limited as the connection was very expensive. In a survey made in 2005 it has been found that there were 180,000 internet users in Mauritius. This rapid increase was due to the decrease in price of both the connection and personal computer.
The amount of ISP also rises from 1 (Telecom Plus) to 7. Not to mention that for 2007 the amount of user has increased, and those users has started to build their own web site. Some are targeted to specific categories while a majority are for the Mauritian communities. Whether commercial, entertainment or social community, they are already on the internet and accessible to everyone around the globe.
