Mauritian and their Cyber Rupee

Mauritius, also claimed as the Cyber Island, has undergo some strategic advancements to fulfill this title. Cyber Towers are being build at a rapid rate. Companies are integrating themselves into the Web of the Internet, giving rise to more and more international clients.

This is good, but what about the regular Mauritians ? Those that are still studying at school or at some tertiaries institutions. Or maybe people that do not have a regular work. What effect does those situations incurred to those people? Simply f they don’t have a pay slip, no access to a credit card. And without a credit card, no payments online.

The solution however would be the use of a debit card, such as Visa Electron. This was perfect for me until i found that the Mauritian Visa Electron are not activated for online payments. I was thinking that it was for a particular Financial institution only. But after investigation, i found that it was for the majority of them. This is quite cruel, but it is life. How do you want the island to be a cyber one, if the doors to attain this are kept closed?

I think that in the project of Cyber Island, they forgot the Cyber people living in it!! Some issues like : I want to pay directly and do no like to pay on credit; have not been taken into consideration. Hope that this situation evolved for the best in the future.
